This fully illustrated talk shows how 19th Century artists portrayed rural Britain, many of them showed idyllic pastoral scenes but others showed the reality of the hardworking life lead by the agricultural worker. Reflections of life in the countryside: the homes, working conditions, health, education and leisure are highlighted.
