Celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE Day in true vintage style on Saturday 9th May in the beautiful surroundings of The Court, Bonfire Lane, Charlton Mackrell.
We will be solemnly remembering the many sacrifices made during the Second World War by so many people both in the services and in the community.
However, we will also be celebrating the ending of the war in great style. Enjoy music of the period in wonderful surroundings with good company.
Choose from hot dogs, a hog roast or jacket potatoes with many toppings, including vegetarian and vegan options, a cream tea or an ice cream.
Relax with a Prosecco, beer or cider at our licensed vintage bar.
Entry is by Ration book which can be purchased at the Post Office in Charlton Adam from April or at the gate on the day.
Bake a cake in VE style in our Charltons bake off for children and adults. This will be judged by a local chef. For details of how to enter contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Join in our best dressed vintage competition for adults and children.
Enjoy a display by the children of the village who can also enjoy a children’s’ street party tea free but please book at email@example.com
We will have lots of games and entertainment for the children including Punch and Judy, hole for the head photoboards, scrambling nets and a commando course.
Talk about the war with local residents who will share their memories and enjoy a display of memorabilia and models of the period displayed by the South Somerset Modelling Club.
Admire the wonderful vintage cars and motorbikes.
Buy local crafts at our market stalls.
Buy a draw ticket and win a great prize.
Enjoy music of the period -live singing , piped and recorded
